Founded by Sharon Winsor, a Ngemba Weilwan woman from western nsw
Sharon Winsor was born in Gunnedah. During her early
years in nearby Rocky Glen, she enjoyed catching yabbies from the dams and creeks, preparing them
for eating. Sharon excelled in horse riding, competing in Equestrian events regionally and nationally.
Today, Sharon is a dedicated supporter of Indigenous culture. She serves as an educator, storyteller,
executive chef, and leader, sharing insights from her life’s experiences. Through her native food
products, culinary events, and publications, she aims to educate the wider community about
Indigenous ingredients. Outside work, she cherishes a peaceful country life, spending time in nature
with her horses. As the founder of Indigiearth since 1997, she has grown it into one of Australia’s
leading Aboriginal owned businesses.
Indigiearth brings 60,000 years of culture to homes nationwide, with products available in over 500
locations and featured in restaurants globally. Sharon’s background in Commercial Cookery has led
to a diverse range of culinary and native botanical products. She offers a unique 5-course dining
experience across the country, accompanied by performances featuring Aboriginal culture, music,
storytelling, and food.
Sharon has overcome significant challenges to reach her current success and is the most awarded
and successful Indigenous chef in the country. From family traumas to personal losses, she has faced
adversity with resilience. Now a mother of two and a prominent figure in Indigenous cuisine, Sharon’s
success stems from her deep connection to the land, culture, and community.

barriers in the native food industry. Sharon’s dedication to her culture and business has earned her international recognition.
